Responsible Tourism Mandate
An appreciation and enjoyment of the natural environment are central to the Scotland Cottages experience.
Environmental Policy
Our b
rochure paper is sourced from sustainable resources
We aim to provide customers with information on how to reduce their carbon footprint during their holiday including details of:
- Walks in the area
- Public transport in the area
-
Bikes & Cycling
facitiles & routes
Provide customers with the countryside code, to inform them of the best ways to protect the environment they are visiting.
Reduce
We actively aim to reduce water wastage. Initiatives include fitting flush savers in all the office toilets.
We are in the process of reviewing our corporate energy usage to ensure that we are more energy efficient.
We also provide cottage owners with free flush-savers for each of their toilets in their cottages and
provide cost-price energy efficient light-bulbs.
Our office staff are encouraged to not print out e-mails or documents where unnecessary.
We encourage our customers to view our range of cottages online. Providing this alternative reduces the number of brochures produced.
Reuse
Paper- we re-use scrap paper for notes, and recycle any non-confidential paper.
Recycle
Out of date brochures are collected and recycled.
We recycle paper, plastic, glass and cans in our offices.
Computers and cartridges. Used printer cartridges and old telephones are collected by a children’s charity. Old computers are collected by a local charity, refurbished and sold at a discounted price to local residents.
Social Policy
We encourage holidaymakers to buy local produce and visit local attractions and pubs. As well as reducing food miles and supporting the local economy, this also allows our customers to interact with the local people and really get a good feel for the area.
Most of our owners and caretakers are live within Scotland, and as such, most of the money remains in the area. This is unlike some other cottage letting agencies, which provide cleaners from a central source.
Environmental Policy
We offer customer the opportunity to directly donate to the
Scottish Native Woods Association
.
We provide customers with details on local markets, pubs and attractions and encourage them to spend their money with local businesses. We also provide details of local tourist information’s that can provide more detailed and accurate information on a specific area.
