At Scotland Cottages we are committed to protecting your privacy. We use the information we collect about you to process your booking and to keep you up to date with news and special offers. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998). What information do we collect? How do we use it?
When you place a booking, we need to know your name, e-mail address, address, credit or debit card number and the card's expiry date, if you select that method for payment. This allows us to process and fulfil your orders and to notify you of the status of your booking. We also ask for your telephone number that enables us to contact you if we have a query regarding the booking. When you subscribe to the e-mail registration list we use the information collected to occasionally notify you about changes to the website, news and special offers we think you'll find valuable. If you would rather not receive this information, please send an e-mail to unsubscribe@scotland-cottages.co.uk with the subject ‘Unsubscribe From E-mail List’.

How do we protect customer information?
When you provide your credit card details, we use a secure server that encrypts the data using a 'Secure Socket Layer' session. SSL is an industry standard and is one of the best ways to ensure Internet messages cannot easily be read as they travel over the Internet. You should be aware, however, that older browsers cannot use SSL. To be sure, you will need Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers, version 3 or above.

We do not store your credit card details in any database that is accessible over the Internet or any other publicly available network.

What about "cookies"?
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Our cookies do not contain any personally identifying information but they do enable us to keep track of which cottages you are viewing and booking, as you move around the site. These cookies are only temporary and are deleted when you leave the website.

Will you disclose the information you collects to outside parties?
Scotland Cottages does not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others. Should our policy ever change, we will inform you and ask your permission once again before sharing any information.

Should a situation arise where we are required by law or legal process to provide information about a customer, we will co-operate fully and supply the requested details.
