The Castle
This Listed Grade A, fairytale Castle is a feast of turrets and towers nestling amidst beautiful, mature parkland on the south shore of Loch Ness, close to the outflow of the River Ness. This is tranquil Highland scenery at its best, and yet Aldourie is surprisingly accessible, being a mere 4 miles from the outskirts of Inverness and 30 minutes from Inverness airport.

Dating back to the 17^th Century and much enlarged since, Aldourie has been fully restored to its former glory, reflecting the life and times of a Highland laird of the 19^th Century.

The Estate
You can enjoy wonderful walks throughout the estate and along the shores of Loch Ness, past the boat marina, through the 150-year old arboretum to the newly restored Victorian glasshouses, or through Torr Wood to Dores and beyond. Cycling, golf, fly fishing for salmon and trout, boat trips and wildlife watching are readily available in and around the Estate.

Aldourie’s central location also makes it a perfect base from which to explore the wider Highland, a vast range of attractions and activity opportunities being easily reached on a day out.

The Castle Accommodation
Aldourie provides splendid, quintessentially Scottish accommodation which has been refurbished in 19th century style to the highest of heritage standards, featuring the finest furnishings and fabrics.

The grand and impressive rooms on the ground floor include the Red Drawing Room, a wonderful library, the Great Hall (ideal for an evening of music and dance), the Laird’s Room, Billiard Room with a large plasma TV, and a large Dining Room seating up to 30 people.

Aldourie Castle has 16 bedrooms, many of which boast luxurious four-poster beds, including tower rooms at the top of the stone spiral staircases. Each bedroom has been individually decorated with its own character and views over the Loch or surrounding parkland.

The Experience
The Castle can be taken in a number of ways and we tailor make your stay, from helping you decide your itinerary, to ensuring you have the team in place to help, from chefs to chauffeurs.

For special occasions we can help you plan a truly magical Highland experience to surpass all expectations by arranging all manner of events… a mini Highland Games, whisky tasting with an expert, Highland dancing tuition, clay pigeon shooting and falconry, story-tellers and magicians …a list only limited by the imagination!

We also offer a variety of special themed weeks and weekends, including The Best of Scotland, Highland Gardens and Arts & Crafts to make your stay truly memorable.

The Estate offers walking and cycling, croquet, billiards, fly fishing, boat cruises, wildlife watching, and Nessie spotting to name but a few.  Or if you should ever wish to explore beyond the Estate, you could head a little further north to see the Moray Firth dolphins for a more reliable sighting!

For a spot of history and culture, the Culloden Battlefield, Urquhart Castle, Cawdor Castle, Fort George and Inverness Museum are all within a 40 minute drive, whilst the Cairngorms, Glen Coe and the West Coast are all easily explored in a day.
